Furniture Care Guide
Furniture Care Guide
At Furvena, we want your furniture to remain comfortable, functional, and attractive for years to come. Proper care and regular maintenance can help protect your furniture from everyday wear and keep it looking its best.
The following general care recommendations apply to many of our furniture products. Always follow the specific care instructions provided with your product, as materials and construction may vary.
General Furniture Care
Dust your furniture regularly with a soft, clean, dry cloth to prevent dust and debris from building up on the surface.
For routine cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth when appropriate and wipe the surface gently. Avoid soaking furniture with water or using excessive moisture, as moisture can damage certain materials, finishes, fabrics, wood components, or metal parts.
After cleaning, dry the surface with a clean cloth.
Avoid placing furniture near excessive heat sources, radiators, fireplaces, or direct sunlight for extended periods. Prolonged exposure to heat or sunlight may cause certain materials and finishes to fade, dry out, or change over time.
Upholstered Furniture
For upholstered chairs, beds, headboards, sofas, and other fabric-covered furniture, vacuum the surface regularly using a suitable upholstery attachment.
Clean spills as soon as possible. Gently blot the affected area with a clean, absorbent cloth rather than rubbing it. Rubbing may push the liquid deeper into the fabric or affect the texture.
Before using any cleaning solution, test it on a small, hidden area first to check for discoloration or other unwanted effects.
Do not use bleach, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or strong solvents unless specifically recommended for the particular fabric.
For bouclé, velvet, linen, or other textured fabrics, avoid aggressive brushing or rubbing that could change the appearance or texture of the material.
Wood Furniture
Remove dust regularly with a soft cloth.
Avoid leaving standing water, wet items, or damp cloths on wooden surfaces. Wipe up spills promptly to help prevent staining, swelling, or damage to the finish.
Use coasters, placemats, or protective pads under drinks, hot dishes, decorative objects, and other items that may scratch, stain, or heat the surface.
Avoid dragging heavy objects across wooden furniture. Lift items when moving them to reduce the risk of scratches.
Metal Furniture
Clean metal surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth when necessary, then dry thoroughly.
Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and rough cleaning materials that may scratch or damage the finish.
Keep metal furniture away from prolonged exposure to excessive moisture whenever possible. If moisture accumulates on the surface, wipe it dry.
Glass Surfaces
Clean glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and an appropriate glass cleaner when suitable.
Do not use abrasive materials that could scratch the glass.
Avoid placing very hot objects directly on glass surfaces unless the product instructions specifically indicate that it is safe.
Handle glass furniture carefully and avoid striking or dropping heavy objects onto the surface.
Mattress Care
Allow your mattress to receive adequate airflow after unpacking and follow the specific setup instructions provided with the product.
Use a suitable mattress protector to help protect the mattress from spills, stains, dust, and everyday wear.
Rotate the mattress when recommended by the product instructions. Do not flip a mattress unless the manufacturer specifically states that it is designed to be used on both sides.
Avoid jumping or placing excessive concentrated weight on the mattress, as this may damage internal components or affect its intended support.
Keep the mattress dry and avoid exposing it to excessive moisture.
Always follow the specific care and usage instructions provided with your mattress.
Bed Frames and Platform Beds
Check screws, bolts, brackets, and other hardware periodically to make sure they remain properly secured.
If you notice loose connections, tighten them according to the assembly instructions.
Do not exceed the product's specified weight capacity.
Avoid moving a fully loaded bed whenever possible. When relocating a bed frame, lift or carefully move it according to the product's construction to reduce stress on the frame and joints.
Tables and Chairs
Use coasters, placemats, or protective pads to help prevent stains, scratches, and heat marks.
Avoid sitting, standing, or placing excessive weight on tables or furniture surfaces that are not designed to support such loads.
For chairs, use them only as intended and periodically check the legs, joints, screws, and other connecting hardware.
Preventing Scratches and Damage
Use protective pads underneath decorative objects, lamps, electronics, and other items that remain on furniture surfaces.
When moving furniture, avoid dragging it across floors. Lift the furniture when possible or use appropriate furniture-moving equipment.
Keep sharp objects away from finished surfaces and upholstered materials.
Cleaning Products
Always check the product-specific care instructions before applying any cleaning product.
Avoid using bleach, abrasive cleaners, strong solvents, or unapproved chemicals unless specifically recommended for the material.
Never mix different cleaning products together.
If you are unsure whether a cleaning product is suitable for your furniture, test a small hidden area first or use a cleaning method recommended by the product manufacturer.
Regular Maintenance
Regularly inspect your furniture for loose screws, hardware, unusual movement, surface damage, or other signs of wear.
Address minor issues promptly before they become more significant.
For products with removable cushions or pillows, follow the product instructions regarding cleaning, positioning, and care.
Important Safety Reminder
Furniture should always be assembled, installed, and used according to the instructions provided with the product.
Do not modify structural components, exceed recommended weight limits, or use furniture for purposes for which it was not designed.
Keep children and pets away from furniture during assembly and keep small hardware and tools out of their reach.
Product-Specific Instructions
Because furniture materials and construction can vary, the recommendations above are general guidelines. Always prioritize the care, cleaning, assembly, and usage instructions supplied with the specific Furvena product.
